Cellulose based EAPap has some challenges in terms of small deformation, sensitiveness to humidity and loss of durability. To improve the deformation and durability, ion migration effect of cellulose EAPap has been maximized by incorporating PEO/PEG, chitosan, sodium alginate, conducting polymers, ionic liquids, etc. The cellulose-polypyrrole-ionic liquid (CPIL) composite has produced durable and large deformation. CPIL composite is suitable for biomimetic actuators. Due to its large capacitance, it can be used for super capacitors and separation membrane for fuel cells.
